Praedator rhythmicusSits at the top of the live-visual food chain. Every other specimen in this collection can, in principle, be routed through it, MIDI-mapped, cued and set loose; none of them can predict exactly what it will do once it is running.
Habitat
Lives inside a touring rig, never a gallery. It requires a performer's hands on a controller and a room willing to accept that nothing on screen was rendered in advance. Sightings outside of a live set are effectively impossible; the specimen does not exist in a form that can be paused.
Behavioral Traits
Chaos, kept deliberately on a short leash. Scene morphs and shader states are mapped directly to MIDI input, so its behavior is really the performer's behavior, one step removed and one step faster than either of them can fully explain afterward. Locked to BPM, it grows visibly more aggressive as tempo climbs, and has been known to outpace the track it was meant to follow.
Ecological Impact
Everything else in a live set adapts around it once it is active: lighting, pacing, even the DJ's own track selection. Several collaborators describe it less as a tool and more as a second performer with its own temperament, one that occasionally overrules the person holding the controller.
